Jedi2155
http://www.spaceref.com/news/viewsr.html?pid=20396 Ouch... Canopy replacement cost is $182,205 not including clean-up... That expression is hilarious.... That glass is Thick! This is also interesting... By the time all 183 jets have been purchased, around $28 billion will have been spent on research and development, with an additional $34 billion spent on actually procuring the aircraft. This will result in a cost of about $339 million per aircraft. The current cost, or "fly away cost" for one additional F-22 stands at about $137 million. If the Air Force were to buy 100 more F-22s today, each plane would be less than $117M and would continue to drop with additional aircraft purchases. http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?storyID=123022371 Edited August 28, 2006 by Jedi2155

Jedi2155
I think the glass should be able to withstand like something between a 12.7 mm (.50 cal) - 20 mm or 23 mm bullet. I think.
Malaphax
not supprized. I mean can you imagine if a piece of shrapnel came off of a plane they had just downed....
