I don't recall a single instance in the past 12 years where I've kept a phone longer than 2 years, so yes that is the plan. Most likely yearly upgrades but possibly 2 year cycles.

The lack of quality cases is a big issue which I'm discovering now after the fact as well, but I actually went through my Note 4 entirely without a case or screen protector successfully.

The Fold 2 definitely feels slipperly though and I get real concerned when flipping it open so I'm looking for a decent solution. The 3 I'm considering the most is as follows:

I hear the leather flip cover is one of the best options so far I can't even purchase it today so waiting for option. The kickstands are definitely valuable.

Ignoring the 5g rollout issue, if someone was asking me for a "higher end" Android phone to recommend I would probably be pointing them to the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G at $599 - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-galaxy-s20-fe-5g-128gb-unlocked-cloud-navy/6426276.p?skuId=6426276

Marques agrees with me. Feels good man.

"Exclusive first look at the Google Pixel 5a"

article - https://www.voice.com/post/@onleaks/exclusive-first-look-at-the-google-pixel-5a-1614036211-183558310

Hmmmm. Price will probably make all the difference like it did for the 4a. My Pixel 3 still going strong but at some point I will have to plan for the next phone.

I suspect it's going to be ~$400 because of the larger 6.2" screen.  I think the oddball we got last generation was the 4a-5g.  This seems like a direct replacement for that phone, and even if the internals and camera are slightly better, it almost seems like a pointless device.
I think the covid delays to the pixel launches meant that the 4/5th generation were oddly spaced and didn't make a ton of sense.

I've been very happy with my 4a and I would absolutely recommend it as an inexpensive android option.
