Interesting. I'm wondering if there is a design flaw on the HMZ-T1 in that it looks like a "one size fits all" type. By that, I mean some people's eyes are farther apart or closer together thus looking through the two "panels", for the lack of a better word, may be a little difficult.

Would it be better to have the ability to adjust the small screens or just to have one screen straight across?

Maybe it doesn't matter.

You're referring to parallax which an essential part of how 3D works. It should not be an issue as both screens are separate and as long as you see both screens it will be okay.

Looks good. I hope I can try it out somewhere because if it's decent I think that would be a halfway reasonable note taking tool. EDIT: I take that back, someone just mentioned in the comments a very valid point, how can you (on the same device) go back to review previous pages of notes? If there is no way that's a big oversight.

Trivia: I made a page of doodles like a year ago that looked kind of like that. Writing surface on the "bottom" with a bulge at the top for electronics, plugs and a few buttons. I told myself the lower surface could not be much thicker than a clip board for comfortable tabletop writing.

That was a pretty insane deal for the parts in that machine. Whats the cost to build your own for that alone?

Amazon launched $200 Fire tablet. I'm convinced they did this because they saw how well the Barnes&Noble nook color (also 7", android, color) was selling for $200 on discount days (thousands each time from what I heard).

I would be far more interested in their $79 or $99 e-ink e-readers than i would be interested in a tablet. I still haven't seen a tablet that would be what I would look for in a device, nor do I frankly expect one like that to happen for at least another couple of years. However with the "old" e-readers becoming significantly cheaper, I'd almost consider getting one at this point.

* BF3 is going retail soon.

* My video card is having issues (heat, performance).

* Nvidia, despite the many things I like about them, still has not seen the light of day regarding multiple displays with a single video card.

* Next gen for both companies is many many months off (spring 2012).

* Size limitations of my case (10.5" absolute max)

* Current finances and financial outlook.

I think an HD 6870 is probably in my near(er) future. A used one can be found for $150 easily.

Next gen for AMD was Q4 2011 I thought:

I would love to return to Nvidia but AMD has a lot of good things going for it in the GPU segment still.

The most optimistic forecasts call for Southern Islands to ship as early as October 2011, the primary constraint being the stability of the 28 nm process at TSMC.[10] It has been speculated that AMD is to use a version of the 28 nm process that is optimized for low power/low clock chips in order to meet the Q4 2011 target.

TSMC is having problems with 28 nm yields. It's slowing everyone's orders down and raising fab prices. People feel that even if production starts this year it probably won't hit retail before spring 2012. Last I read TSMC has 28nm orders through this year and well into next year.

Steve Jobs died today. Regardless of my opinions about his company, it is undeniable he understood the power of marketing and was very good at what he did.

I was talking to my mom about a few weeks ago about how he stepped down from his recent roll at Apple because of stated health reasons and she mentioned that she had seen a recent picture of him and felt he only had a few weeks left to live. Looks like she was right.

I have had a lot more respect for Steve Jobs after entering the work force and seeing the ability of a powerful leader really influencing the behavior of of a team direction. I really believe that had it not been for Jobs decisions in the technology world, we would not be anywhere close to the technology we have today.

His desires and OCD/megalomania/reality distortion field on perfection, and excellence is what brought the many technologies that most would not bother with into a product that everyone desires, and companies attempt to copy then improve on.

Apple lover or hater, he created markets that did not previously existed and improved the daily lives of everyone as a result. Calling him nothing less than a visionary and pioneer would be wrong.

Nice for what it is. I agree with some of the discussion though that it seems to basically be a vertical version of the SG05. I don't see why they didn't push for a full size PSU. People have modded the base SG05 to fit a full size but oh well.

AMD are delaying the launch of their hotly anticipated next generation Radeon cards featuring Graphics Core Next Gen architecture to Q1 2012, despite previously targeting Q4 '11 for launch.

Rage3D's sources indicate that the problem is on the production side, not the design side, possibly indicating TSMC's 28nm process Q4 volume ramp up isn't enough to launch the new line up for Christmas.

The good news is that the wait might be worth it, with the new high-end single GPU offering performance levels close to the HD 6990 dual-GPU flagship card. However, we've seen with the 5800, 5900 and 6900 series that AMD aren't afraid to move up the price ladder if they feel the performance warrants the price. With the HD 6990 retailing well over $700USD, will the single GPU replacement really be in the same price bracket as the $400 6970?

Did I call that or did I call that? Gimmie my points!

DAAMNIT. Yes you called it. Oh well, at least the GPU upgrade will now coincide with my planned Ivy Bridge upgrade. I'm hoping it won't be too expensive for the high-end single card, but I guess I might have to wait it out. Who knows, maybe I might even move back to Nvidia.

Nvidia has no chance of keeping me if their next card(s) don't allow more than 2 displays per 1 card.

I'm still on a single display, although I am CONSIDERING getting a 2nd one. I just don't know if I should get another U2410, go with 2 separate displays (the 2410 has some seriously noticeable input lag), or sell the U2410 and go with something else but dual display.
