I feel like Apple's recent moves has given everyone a swift boot in the ass to pay attention to ARM in the workstation market but Windows 10 on ARM came out many years ago. At my work, the first time someone came to me and talked about issues running software on ARM was for a Microsoft Surface Pro X like a year ago. Has Microsoft seen the writing on the wall for that long?
Jedi2155
I mean, everyone saw the writing on the wall a long time ago. The very first Surface RT from 2012 for Windows 8 was ARM based. Developing a X64 to ARM emulator with good performance takes years so it wasn't something they just did overnight. I should have cleared up my original comment which was weighed to heavily into implying Apple being the market visionary, but more about now the competition HAS to pay attention more even though they were already. Malaphax
This is a funny/sad kinda of video. With all the new products that were launched this year, actually getting them to build a system with is basically impossible and I appreciate that Linus acknowledged that. kuhla
"Fox Sports used a Sony A7R IV to give NFL broadcasts a cinematic look" article - https://www.engadget.com/fox-sports-gives-football-a-cinematic-look-with-sony-mirrorless-cameras-200048816.html Quote .... Nicknamed “Megalodon,” the rig is made up of a Sony A7R IV, Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM lens, DJI Ronin-S gimbal, a field monitor and a 1080p wireless transmitter. Operator Mike Smole called it a “poor man’s Steadicam,” because the $10,000 price tag is a pittance compared to a broadcast camera and full Steadicam rig. .... There are some videos on youtube of this if you want to see examples of what it ended up looking like but I bring this up because I wanted to make a different point with this. It looks professional and costs a fraction of what the previous setups did (assuming they end up using it more and make it a standard). I think this was already apparent from the live streamers, the podcasters, the "serious" youtubers but the pandemic (like with many things) just dramatically accelerated the general realization that the bar for "professional" level production is now within the reach of many people and is no longer limited to big businesses. I have seen multiple newscasters regularly streaming from home (example) to just give one example. Hobbyists doing spectacular shots with drones of everything. I do not want to call it a "democratization" of media production but I do feel like it opens up so many more opportunities for more people to make "professional" level content. I do wonder what it will all turn into in 20 years.

The proposal to ban new public networks was included in the "Boosting Broadband Connectivity Agenda" announced Tuesday by Reps. kuhla
I really just want a super KVM switch where I slap a button and the mouse, keyboard and monitors all switch to a different input and also a headset that simultaneously is connected to like 3 devices. Since that is unrealistic or just really expensive I'm looking on amazon for at least a USB switch which is apparently pretty common: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=usb+switch&ref=nb_sb_noss EDIT: also wondering if those community popular Linsoul would work for as replacement for work headset which looks ugly and is uncomfortable https://www.amazon.com/Linsoul-KZ-ZS10-Earphones-Detachable/dp/B07XXW9H6C/
Jedi2155
I went through several switches and I ended up going to this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0822LCS97/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 These were the other 2 I tried: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JX3Q28Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081PJF8RV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I also tested input lag and AFIAK I cannot detect it using this: https://www.vsynctester.com/testing/mouse.html I have both my G613, and G903 + Primary Monitor USB hub connected to it. I have 1 spare USB port. Its not 1 button but still several due to my multi monitor configuration, but if you have a Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C monitor with MST, you can reasonably get it to a 1-2 button push to switch machines. My dell P2720DC has USB-C, DP-MST , USB-PD (65w), and a 4 port USB hub that can all be switched easily.

I appreciate the recommendation and will probably buy that one but just trying to better understand why. They all worked but it was several mistakes on my part. Some of the other designs did not work as well so the ones I did order met my criteria. 1st one, I ordered only a 2 port USB hub, big mistake since I realized I needed more usb ports, and I didn't like daisy chaining hubs. 2nd one I ordered, I didn't realize I ordered the USB 2.0 hub when I wanted a 3.0 hub. 3rd one I've been using since early march and has been very reliable since switching several times a day on some days. kuhla
product page - https://en-us.sennheiser.com/momentumwireless Quote SENNHEISER Momentum 3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones Active Noise Cancellation and Transparent Hearing functionality allow you to experience your audio world on your terms. The advanced Active Noise Cancellation offers three modes that are tailored to different environments. And with the Transparent Hearing feature, you can enjoy music while still being fully present in whatever you’re doing. I don't understand why is not already a feature on every single headphone/headset with built-in smart features at every price level.
Jedi2155
Requires a microphone in order for it to work which is why it isn't on headphones but should be a good feature on headsets. I've been using it on my Galaxy buds for the past 2 years so its been good.

kuhla
Ok so I kind of want some nice-ish wireless headphones for this use case: Can be paired to my work computer and my cell phone simultaneously Has a "transparency" or "let through" mode that allows me to hear sound outside and can be left on (not temporary, tap and hold, etc.) Has a microphone that can be used for calls Not earbuds I have done a little searching but this seems to be not an easy combo to find partially because everyone uses different names for these features. Malaphax
I think the obvious answer is the Sony WH-1000XM4's I believe Jabra generally support multi-pairing with blutooth, but I'm not so sure about their lineup. Your feature request list is rather specific and will make finding something that has all of that a bit of a challenge. Multi-pairing blutooth is already somewhat rare, let alone transparency or not earbuds.

Malaphax
This does not match your criteria. This is simply what I went with for my TWS option. https://www.moondroplab.com/sparks Moondrop is a solid brand of chinese made IEMs they're ultra serious and the sparks are their first/only TWS offering. My initial impressions are that they're good, the interface/controls are shit (no volume control & the app is a fucking QR code for a beta that probably sends your contact list to winnie the poo himself). They're clearly not noise cancelling, but moderate isolation depending upon tips used (they include 3 types of tips in multiple sizes). I bought these mostly to upgrade my ultra-cheap gym headphones (they're so old and cheap the amazon listing is gone) and they've been doing a solid job so far. Sound quality is a noticeable upgrade, but aren't comparable to wired options. I personally have two modes - I'm in the gym and need noise to block out terrible music and the lunk alarm OR I'm at home listening to music with the advantage of a DAC/AMP stack and unlimited streaming quality. For the gym and "casual" listening I've been happy with the sparks. But I'm not expecting much from them, and don't need fancy features.
