AA-12 Russian

Recommended Posts

Saw this about a week ago. Pretty hilarious, not because of the shitty fake russian accent but because that gun is sick. Super simple design, very practical for certain situations.

The other hilariously awesome shotgun is actually the neostead 2000. That thing doesn't just look cool, it has all sorts of funny features. Like 2 separate magazine tubes allowing you to swap between slugs and buckshot.

I have to admit gun technology generally doesn't interest me much, but every once in a while there are those awesome or weird weapons that I just appreciate for their ingenuity or even simplicity.

This gun is old... the USAS-12 is based on it. Shit tons of USAS-12 videos on youtube:

(actual shooting is done at 4:35)

As far as I know though, the military is fairly happy with their semi-auto Benelli M4s so I don't see this being deployed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FaDhnkzqTU and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benelli_M4

I don't think it looks all that awesome... that iron sight thing on the top looks super ugly and the but-stock is kind of... rounded in strange ways.

If you want to talk about fancy shotguns that you can actually own as a civilian in CA and has many similar features to the neostead: Kel-Tec KSG. Looks nicer too imho.

I know its old..especially since I have a video of it that I showed you 6 years ago. I just think that Russian is hilarious hahah but I've never seen how crazy the recoil system is on that rifle. I still mainly use the USAS-12 on Battlefield though.

I still haven't fired a real firearm....does anyone want to go to the range?

Sorry to only now finally get around to replying to this. I meant to but forgot until today.

Couple of things:

* The only range I've been to a few times is down in On-Target down in Laguna Niguel: http://www.on-targetrange.com they have a decent selection of rentals. There is another one actually in brea that I have never been to: http://www.ocindoorrange.com but I guess it is an option.

* $$$ adds up pretty fast. I don't mind paying my share but expect the total between the two of us to be something like $100. That covers ear protection, ammo, rental pistol, targets, lane rental, etc. fees.

* On the one hand I don't want to over-hype safety because Joe Redneck has handled firearms most his life and never had an accident. On the other hand never having handled a live firearm combined with little to no safety rules in airsoft makes it a terrible substitute. I almost feel a bit of my soul burning away linking to their website but the NRA has a pretty clear gun safety page that has the basics: http://www.nrahq.org/education/guide.asp that means if we go shooting I'll be all over your ass (no homo) to try and avoid anything dumb because the guys that manage these ranges are usually safety nazis. I actually think the best first experience would be out in the desert but that's logistically outside my ability to provide.

* Oh yeah, it may be obvious by now but there are no rifle ranges anywhere even close to us. Everything even remotely close to a city in California is limited to pistol calibers since it is indoors. I've been to one rifle range and it was north of los angeles and there was no rental system.

* In terms of when, talk to me after this week.

I was looking at the Brea one mainly. If its pistols only I don't have have a really specific desire for pistols as I'd be happy with trying any of the following:

- USP

- 1911

- Glock

- Beretta

- Five-Seven

- .357 Magnum (this is the exception to what I say below)

But mainly I just want to see how a 9mm versus .45 ACP feels.

- 9mm

- .45 ACP

I really do not care for revolvers or even like them, so if I'm stuck with revolvers I would be very disappointed. I still much rather prefer rifles because they can be so much more different in ergonomics than a pistol IMO. I would like to get a Mosin-Nagant from Big-5 but need to get my firearms license first and haven't gotten around to filling out the forms.

I've only ever fired a revolved that someone else loaded for me so I wouldn't feel comfortable renting one. Regardless of that, I don't even know if they offer revolvers for rental. I can tell you that from what I remember, all of on-target's rentals are magazine loaded pistols.

- Beretta

Beretta what? I'm assuming 92FS? Why? It's pretty generic in every way.

- Five-Seven

LOL. Not a chance. Too exotic. Ammo too expensive. If you find a place that rents that tell me! I want to shoot it too.

- .357 Magnum (this is the exception to what I say below)

Uhhhh.... in terms of mainstream pistols, I've only ever seen this (and fired) in a revolver. Wasn't fun. 357 SIG is much more doable though.
