That makes it cheaper than anywhere else I have seen it by a decent amount.Anandtech review - http://www.anandtech.com/show/9289/the-nvidia-shield-android-tv-review Engadget review - http://www.engadget.com/2015/06/21/nvidia-shield-TV-review/ I was kind of tempted myself to use it because....1) It's very future proof (HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2, 4k@60fps). 2) GameStream is a kinda cool feature - http://shield.nvidia.com/game-stream 3) Netflix has certified the device so they will stream 4k content to it (when they have it). 4) Google Cast means it has all the features of the Chromecast and more. ....but the reason I'm not using it is because....1) I don't have a 4k tv and I don't have a reciever that can process 4k signals. Ideally I would need to upgrade both (and make sure they both do HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2) before I can take full advantage of all this product has to offer. Just upgrading to a 4k tv, of the kind I would want, would already be a significant sum of money. 2) GameStream sounds good but I don't realistically see myself taking advantage of it. I already have the ability to use the TV as a monitor for gaming if I want to since I have HDMI cable running all the way to it. Control input is an issue in either solution. 3) Time. By the time I have made the upgrades in issue #1, this may come down to that price without discount or there may be a newer version or competing product, etc. If anyone wants to use my discount, let me know. But the shield is one of the few devices that supports it. Looking at the requirements for 4k Netflix on a PC is both hilariously limited and utterly stupid. T1no Posted December 22, 2017 Report Share Posted December 22, 2017 i honestly love my shield. the game streaming works fairly well. noticeable slight lag on like racing game. youtube tv, netflix, game, plex. i think they do plex server. you just have to attach the nas. Chromecast Ultra does most of the work already for other things such as remote streaming and android capability (remote casting). I feel that one point worth considering is people who bought it two years ago (at the $150 price) got a tremendous amount of value.
